NEW YEAR - ROSH HASHANAH 2004

This year Rosh Hashanah was extra-special, for it was the first year that all our children and grandchildren were living in Israel and could be with us for the Rosh Hashanah meal.
In addition to Vered and Aviv, Aviv and Limor, Moran and Michal and their children, we were happy to have with us other family and friends: the Bravermans (Louise, Denise, Rael and Yahel); the Nickels (Julius, Laura and Richard); Caroline and Avigail and Almog Collins; and Shuki Kuriski.

Being with family and friends is always a wonderful occasion, especially when the food is excellent!

This year (2004) there was an innovation. Dani and Lior had made Shofarim from deer antlers at their synagogue in America, and we had a shofar blowing competition:

The winner? We had to wait for the next night to get our winner.
For the second night we were joined by Louis and Eti Nickel with Gali and Amit, and by family from South Africa who were visiting in Israel, Ali and Shira Bacher. We all had a lovely time and we also celebrated the family birthdays in September. The September babies (Louis, Danielle, Lior, Gali, Yahel) all helped blow out the candles on the birthday cake.

Those who were not with us on the first night had a chance to take part in the shofar-blowing competition - and the winner was .............

Amit Nickel - wow, what lungs!

In addition to the home celebrations, we were happy to visit and be visited by dear friends and family -

Galor and Orli Tamir, whom we haven't seen since their wedding, visited. It was lovely seeing them again, and talking about the days in Eilat when Galor and Aviv were inseparable. Now their lovely children Orgad, Or and Osher were having such a nice time with Aviv's Itamar.

We were delighted to have a visit from Ruth (visiting from South Africa), Cheryl and Braham Kansky.

In between the guests and preparations and cleaning up we managed to get out for a bit and visit the Glassmans and the Kahns.
